Tom Bull
Tom Bull (b. 1995, Northamptonshire, UK) is an artist based in London. He works with sculpture, video, and installation to explore the uneasy relationship between urban and rural life. His practice draws on materials and techniques from vernacular architecture, aspirational design, countercultures, folk horror, heavy industry, and rural craft. Bull’s work focuses on tension and contradiction between hedonism and restraint, escapism and reality, desire and violence, and tradition and change.
Bull’s most recent work explores ideas of country life, asking how concepts such as land, loss, community, nostalgia, access, labour, and control are shaped and negotiated. His sculptures are layered and complex, engaging with lived experience rather than simply representing it. They do not seek to resolve life’s uncertainties but instead draw attention to them, giving form and presence to the tensions and anxieties they produce.
Tom Bull graduated with a BA Hons in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, UK (2018), and an MFA from Goldsmiths College, University of London, UK (2022). Bull has completed large scale commissions for various institutions including Turf Projects, London, UK (2023) and Yetea Museum, Chilgok, Korea (2023). Solo exhibitions include OUTPOST Gallery x St Chads, Norwich, UK (2025); Mucciaccia Gallery, London, UK (2025); and E-WERK, Freiburg, Germany (2023). Other notable exhibitions include Collectible x Max Radford, Brussels, Belgium (2025); Cob Gallery, London, UK (2024); General Expenses, Mexico City, Mexico (2023); and South London Gallery, London, UK (2022). Bull was the recipient of the Elephant Trust Fund (2024); New Contemporaries (2022); the Gilbert Bayes Grant (2022); the Thomas Scholarship, UCL (2020); and the Associate Studio Programme, ACME (2019).
